What lead generation still works in 2026?

All of it. Every lead generation channel is still valid in 2026. SEO, LinkedIn, email, direct mail, lead magnets. None of them are dead. And none of them are magic. What works in 2026 is being strategic and deliberate about which channels you run, and how you run them.

What has changed is that lead generation might feel harder. And that means you need to do it differently.

Which lead generation channels still work in 2026?

The AI Edit Method for B2B lead generation covers more than 20 channels. Every one of them still works. Here are some of the ones people ask me about most:

SEO still works. Reports of the death of SEO have been greatly exaggerated. Just because people spend a lot of time on chatbots does not mean they are not searching the internet. Which means there are leads to be found via organic search.

If you're a local business, then local SEO is still your best bet by a long way. Sure, AI has changed the game a little, but all you need to do is learn about those changes and make sure you accommodate them.

Nope, LinkedIn is not evaporating. In fact, as our email inboxes become swamped with spam and we can't really trust most social media, a verified and active LinkedIn profile can become your most prolific lead generator.

Email marketing still has a place. But if you are planning to email every single person in your total addressable market every single week as part of your 52 email spam sequence, then your email marketing strategy is going to fail. You can't personalise at scale. That's just attempted manipulation.

Direct mail is still a thing. I've been working with one client for the last few months and a chunk of their leads have come in via a direct mail campaign that we ran.

So that's just a handful of the channels that we cover here at the AI Edit. All still work. If you know what you’re doing with them.

Where my own B2B leads come from in 2026

My leads (almost 70 in the first 5 months of running the AI Edit Method) don't come from one place. They come from my website, referrals, LinkedIn, Substack, speaking events, YouTube and networks.

No single channel is doing all the work. It's the mix.

Why lead generation feels harder in 2026

If lead gen feels harder than it used to, you're not imagining it. There are more tools than ever before. But all your competitors have access to those tools. There aren't more leads because the economy is barely growing.

So the truth is you have to put more effort in to win leads. Lead gen is not simply a case of doing the work, ticking the boxes, and then getting the leads. You have to do the work better than your competitors, tick the boxes faster than your competitors, and keep doing that if you want to get the lead.

What B2B businesses need to do differently to win leads now

The channels haven't changed but the effort has. In a market that isn't growing fast, you need to put more into:

  • Adapting your offering
  • Building trust
  • Building your brand
  • Being consistent
  • Taking the long view

That's what strategic and deliberate looks like in practice. It's why the Channels step of the AI Edit Method is a prioritised plan of which channels to run, and when. Not all 20+ at once. The right ones, in the right order, done properly.
